One of the reasons I oppose it is because if the line of separation between torture and non-torture is this fine, then what people say is non-torture can't really be that harmless.

Another reason I oppose it is because I tend be highly skeptical of information extracted through such extraordinary means. Could it be possible that someone would say anything just to make it stop?

But the point of this entry was that the whole waterboarding debate is secondary considering the U.S. government had plenty of forewarning that something was brewing. Al Qaeda has even told us of their intentions, without even having to be waterboarded! My opposition to waterboarding is like my opposition to the Patriot Act: the government had the essential information but failed to act on it, or as they say, "connect the dots." This means that the government doesn't need extra powers to keep us safe.Carl Wicklanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10743503122650895906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8615961553701645495.post-67900420209385151762009-05-05T16:35:00.000-07:002009-05-05T16:35:00.000-07:00"What did waterboarding 2 people, one of them the ..."What did waterboarding 2 people, one of them the supposed mastermind of 9/11, a total of 266 times tell us about the terrorist attacks that curious internet users could not have found out for themselves?"No one was waterboarded 266 times, you are repeating misinformation that has since been corrected. The count had to do with number of times water was dripped, not waterboardings. A single waterboarding consists of several drippings of water. Story hereTo your question - what we learned was about future attacks, specifically we learned about the "West Coast Plot" by waterboarding Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Details hereTom the Redhunterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01989584196825992054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8615961553701645495.post-36983578916289725962009-04-21T21:13:00.000-07:002009-04-21T21:13:00.000-07:00And shortly after all of the Republican outrage at...And shortly after all of the Republican outrage at the releasing of classified info, Cheney, upon realizing he was now looking bad by the hidden information rather than good, did a 180 on his national security opinion of releasing classified info and asked that the results of the interrogations be released.Steel Phoenixhttp://www.theallegator.com/tag/censorship/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8615961553701645495.post-73678600118580473362009-04-21T16:46:00.000-07:002009-04-21T16:46:00.000-07:00"If we want to make the waterboarding issue moot, ..."If we want to make the waterboarding issue moot, then we must make the impetus for terrorism moot as well and come home."

Right on Brother!Joe "Truth 101" Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08875151516978133598noreply@blogger.com
